Cultivating Confidence: Encouragement for Your Mental Health Journey
May is Mental Health Awareness Month!
Mental Health is a vital part of our overall well-being. No matter who you are, what you do, or what circumstances you may be walking through, maintaining good mental health has a significant impact on your quality of life.
Bonnie, one of our nurses who has a background in Mental Health practice, has these thoughts to share regarding maintaining good mental health through self-confidence and positive self-talk and image:
1.) The importance of being your own best friend.
That begins with being kind as you talk to yourself as you navigate the circumstance(s) you are going through.
If you don’t know how to solve a situation, remind yourself that you are able and capable of finding someone and services that can guide you- and good outcomes usually follow!
You don’t have to hold things in, raise your anxiety, and figure it out on your own.
Most people are willing to help when they are treated with kindness, respect, and gratitude.
At Dakota Hope Clinic, we are a supportive community with no cost programs and services. Our desire is to come alongside and support you as you navigate choices to get from point A to B for your unique situation. Reach out!
2.) Respect yourself by listening to and trusting your gut instincts!
You develop good personal boundaries when you do! Often your gut is the first thing to fire up and tell you to use caution,
and walk away,
to speak up and say “no” or “not now” or “maybe later”
to an uncertain situation.
The logic and facts may not be known at that moment as to why you feel the need to apply caution, but over time, truth has a way of revealing itself. Observe a person’s actions and words, as they can reveal good or bad motives.
Have your back! You are Worthy and made in God’s Image!
